ABA Frontline Compliance FAQs

A FREE Offer to ABA Member Banks.[arrow]

As an added benefit of your ABA membership, you can obtain unlimited access for all of your employees — and at no cost — to ABA's compliance online courseware, including the ABA Knowledge Center. This will allow you to train your entire workforce in regulatory compliance, track their progress and produce reports for both internal and bank examiner use.

Which regulations are covered by ABA's online courseware?[arrow]

ABA's compliance online courseware covers all the key banking regulations that impact a retail-oriented bank and are categorized into two types. Job-specific courses are offered for five job functions — call center representative, customer service representative, consumer lender, personal banker, and teller. The comprehensive reviews are suitable for non-compliance managers who need a general overview of a regulation. For a complete list of courses, please click here.

How will I know which courses my employees need?[arrow]

Your compliance officer most likely has a plan about which employees need to be trained on which regulations. ABA compliance online courseware includes specific courses designed for five distinct job functions.

How will my employees access ABA's eLearning courseware?[arrow]

We will create a designated Internet site with a unique URL for your bank that can be accessed 24/7. Students will receive individual instructions for logging into the system with their own username and password via email.

Courses can also be completed at home, although you should be aware that employment laws require that non-exempt employees receive overtime for completion of assigned training outside of regular working hours.

If your bank already has a learning management system (LMS), ABA will provide you with compliance courseware, which can be loaded on virtually any industry-standard LMS.

Will my employees need access to the Internet?[arrow]

Your employees will only need to be able to access the Internet site created by ABA with your unique URL. This is where they have to log in to take courses and complete their training. If your bank limits employee access to the Internet, you will need to enable access to this specific site.

Can my employees access the coursework if they do not have access to email?[arrow]

Yes, but your training administrator would have to send login instructions individually to each participant. Employees can use their individual personal email addresses, but they still need access to the Internet to launch their courses.

How can I track student progress in these courses?[arrow]

ABA will provide your training administrator with access to the Knowledge Center so that he or she can register and enroll employees in specific courses and generate reports on what training has been completed by each person. Training on the use of the system by your administrator will be provided in an initial package and in periodic Webinar sessions.

Why is ABA making this offer?[arrow]

ABA has a long history of helping the industry manage the regulatory burden. Bank regulation, however, is a fact of life. ABA is making this offer to help you reduce the growing cost of regulatory training, which is part of the regulatory burden, and has become a key factor in managing your regulatory compliance risk.

Does ABA provide non-compliance training as part of this offer?[arrow]

ABA provides a wide range of non-compliance training delivered over the Internet, in the classroom and over the phone. Students can register for individual courses at the Knowledge Center or the bank can acquire a license to a set of courses for a group of employees. The ABA Knowledge Center can be used to manage your entire training program, including both internal training activities and external events.

What does this training cost for non-members?[arrow]

The cost of this training for banks that are not ABA members ranges from $59 per person for banks with fewer than 50 employees and declines as the number of employees increases.

How do I take advantage of this offer?[arrow]

Click here to download the Administrator Contact Information Form and License Agreement. Then fax the completed documents to Eric Hensley at 1-202-663-5343. We will contact you within 72 hours with your ABA Knowledge Center login information.

These documents require Adobe Reader.

Will ABA provide ongoing technical support?[arrow]

Yes. ABA will provide ongoing training as well as technical support. Any questions should be directed to support@aba.com.

Are these courses suitable to train my compliance managers?[arrow]

These courses do not provide the specific details needed for those individuals who manage your bank's compliance risk. ABA Frontline Compliance courses are designed for individuals in various non-compliance jobs who must understand compliance as part of their daily responsibilities. However, we offer a broad array of products and services, located in ABA's Center for Regulatory Compliance, specifically geared to compliance managers.

How often will courses be updated?[arrow]

ABA's Regulatory Compliance staff constantly monitors changes in regulation and determines when updates in courseware are needed.

Will additional courses be added?[arrow]

ABA's Regulatory Compliance staff will determine when new regulations have a training impact and need to be added to the courseware.

How should I roll this out within my bank?[arrow]

Within 72 hours of your returning the signed license agreement, your training administrator will receive a package of information on how best to use the ABA Knowledge Center. This package will greatly facilitate the development of a compliance training plan, including timetables and course sequences for individual employees. ABA also provides sample emails and other internal communications pieces to explain the training to your employees and to ensure you maximize this member benefit.

Can I maintain data from my existing training in the ABA Knowledge Center?[arrow]

No, the training records from the legacy systems cannot be added to the ABA Knowledge Center. However, your current training efforts can be tracked in the learning management system (LMS).
